Welcome to Our Farm!
After retiring from her 25-year career in Education, Marlowe was inspired to transform her small urban property into a garden for feeding and healing herself and her family. The first step consisted of removing all the commonplace plants around her home and replacing them with fruit trees and herbal shrubs. Then, she planted an annual food garden in containers on the 22x22 deck over the two-car garage. In the following years, she continued to add plants and increase her knowledge of plants and their amazing healing properties.

10 years later, Marlowe realized that she wanted to share her knowledge and experience with others. After learning about “WWOOFing” (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms), Marlowe thought that what she had created would be a great place for people from all over the world to learn about organic gardening and sustainability, especially folks who had a lot of motivation and interest but lacked experience. Happy Nest has hosted a dozen WWOOFers so far and the result have been rewarding for all!

Her husband, Michael, of 46 years has been very supportive of Marlowe's vision. After retiring from a career in higher education, he went from being an observer of the process to becoming an active participant, his knowledge of the farm workings continues to grow.

In today's world, we may realize that something is out of alignment, but we don't know what to do about it. Marlowe and Michael feel that they can contribute in a small way to making the world a better place through reconnecting people with Mother Nature, and teaching others how our plant allies assist with vibrant health.

Happy Nest Farm aims to become a community center for educating people about the benefits of growing their own food and making their own natural products for a healthier life. The community center would include a place to gather for music, art, and a place to discuss ways to improve our urban lifestyles.
